Hello. My name is Becky Carr and I love to quilt! From selecting or designing my own patterns, searching for the perfect fabric, piecing, and finally machine quilting – it’s what I’d rather be doing than anything else. I’ve been sewing my whole life and made my first quilt about 40 years ago. After struggling to quilt my pieced tops on my domestic sewing machine and building up a backlog of unfinished projects, I discovered the convenience of longarm machine quilting services by others. I eventually decided to invest in a computerized longarm quilting machine of my own to express my creativity in another dimension and facilitate the quilting completion process. To date, I’ve had fun machine quilting more than 400 projects.
Quilting combines my love of fabric and color with my fondness for strong geometrical patterns and precise construction — a perfect blending of my sewing and engineering backgrounds. My quilts offer striking visual designs executed with superb craftsmanship. I make quilts to celebrate life’s milestones: new baby, birthday, graduation, wedding, new home, anniversary, retirement, a life well-lived. My quilts adorn beds, sofas, chairs, and walls of family and friends all over the country. My wish is to share my quilts with others to bring comfort and style into their homes for many generations.
I am a member of the local quilting guild Poolesville Village Piecemakers, the American Quilter’s Society, and The Modern Quilt Guild. I am pleased to support numerous charitable organizations by donating handmade quilts.
